"For the great Gaels of Ireland,
Are the men that God made mad ?
For all their wars are merry,
And all their songs are sad."
G.K. Chesterton - The Ballad of the White Horse, Book 2 (1911)
Questo serbatoio pensile è situato lungo la storica Route 66, ed è stato appositamente costruito con una certa pendenza, per fare in modo che la gente si fermi e ne chieda il motivo... This leaning water tower was porposefully made this way. It is to lure people to stop and ask...
Invece di stare a guardare Thomas Doll mentre ci prova con l’arbitro tedesco Bibiana Steinhaus dandole ripetute pacche in diretta tv, credo che sia meglio spendere un paio di parole a favore del Tropea Blues Festival.
Cherry Lee Mewis, John Verity & Max Milligan. They know what “just-voice-band” means, even if they also played acoustic guitars. I was a bit late, but as soon as I got my eyes on Cherry (pictured on the left), it was time to think about other places. Her white dress, her white and (I suppose) smooth legs, her red hair. While somebody said she looked a lot like Jessica Rabbit (and, you know, all of a sudden they were sure they all have dreamt of having sex with her), I found myself settled at an American country festival, somewhere in Oklahoma or in Iowa. Cherry’s voice was at times aggressive, at times so sensual, but always, undoubtedly, powerful. Close to her, guitarists Max Milligan and John Verity. Ever heard about the last one ? If you’ve been playing along with Saxon or Motörhead, the answer is “yes”. If you listened to a gentle acoustic guitar, played by a clean and overmastering voice, maybe at Colne Blues Festival or yesterday evening, the answer is “I did”. If you think you just don’t give a damn about it, you should give up with bullshit and visit johnverity.com.
